Ambition

The objective of the project is not only to create a closed cycle for the material use but also to reduce the energy consumption associated to the whole production, manufacturing and repairing operations. Solid state manufacturing (FSE and AFSD) and Cold Metal Transfer (CMT) have been selected for this project due to the very low energy consumption to recycle and deposit material, and special care within the project will be put in the optimization of the energy and environmental impact of these technologies. The optimization must be take into account not only the single process but the overall picture. For example, since it is crucial to reduce as much as possible the energy consumption of the processes, the general approach will be to use FSE to produce large diameter welding medium, that will be used as raw material both for AFSD and CMT.
